Butterfly Journal

Decided to post another one of the journals I made recently to give to some friends.  This journal was for Judy.  It features Collage paper from Teresa Collins' World Traveler Collection.
The butterflies are die cut from Grungeboard using Tim Holtz Mini Butterflies set from Sizzix.  They're covered with excess scraps from the Collage paper after I finished the cover.  I added rhinestones in the center of the butterflies.  The two smaller roses are die cut from Grungepaper and the larger rose is die cut from kraft cardstock.  Again, I used Tim Holtz Tattered Florals die from Sizzix.

The metal flowers are also Tim Holtz (yes I have an addiction).  They are the Metal Foliage from his Idea-ology label.

The black tape is from 7Gypsies.  It's the Scroll Gaffer Tape.

Finally the wood bracket is from Kaisercraft.  It comes as bare wood and I simply distressed it with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink...also from Tim Holtz.....  {smile}

See you soon!

Classic Cupid Heart

It's been a whirlwind lately so I haven't had a chance to post anything.    But, I just finished up teaching two Memory Box Valentine Day card classes.  One was at The Scrapbooking Studio in Bloomington, IL and the other was at The Scrapadoodle in Peoria, IL. Both were great classes...such wonderful people and so generous!   I love both of these stores!   And it's always so nice seeing customers take advantage of locally owned scrapbook stores!

I have to confess that usually when I make a set of cards for a class there might be one that I really don't care for.  Not this time.  I designed 8 cards; 4 for each location and I really love all of them!  It was hard for me to decide which one to feature first.

I finally landed on this one:

This card features the Classic Heart stamp and the Cupid Heart die;  both from Memory Box and both available at the stores above!

I also dyed some seam binding ribbon using Twinkling H2O's and Walnut Stain Distress Ink.   The solid cardstock is from Memory Box and the patterned papers are from My Mind's Eye Lost & Found II Collection - Blush.

See you soon!

Trying My Hand at Journals

I've been working on a huge project at work, and I wanted to give all the project team members a token of my appreciation for doing such a great job.   So, I decided to make journals for everyone.  but then, someone told me "men don't journal"...so, I just made them for the girls.  :0).   Sorry boys....they ended up with Amazon Gift Certificates.

I thought they turned out pretty nice...well, that is for someone who has never created a journal before.  See, I have this Zutter, but I'm afraid to use it.  But, being inspired by so many beautiful creations online, I built up the courage.  I made a prototype so I could work through my mistakes...i.e.  cutting the inside paper too big, not cutting the outside cover paper big enough...  Then just started making them.  They came together pretty easily and I tried to tailor the design to the recipient.

So, now I'll feature one of those journals from time to time.  I think I ended up making 12 in all.  Here's the first one:
Most of the items are things I have in my stash.  I'll try to identify everything!
Ginger paper from Cosmo Cricket's Circa 1934 Collection, Gaffer's Tape from 7 Gypsies, Mini Bingo Card from Jenni Bowlin, Pen Nib, Mini Paper Clip, and Journaling Ticket from Tim Holtz Idea-ology, Rhinestone Flourish from Prima, Blue Flower I made from Maya Road Zipper Trim and center is from Prima.

Thanks for stopping by..

A Father's Love

As my parents age, I find myself getting really emotional and looking back at old pictures often.   I'm especially fond of these pictures of my dad and my oldest brother, Bob.  These were taken around 1959 or 1960 when Bob was not quite 3.

I used to think my dad looked like Johnny Cash.  Maybe it's because we had a ton of his records and my dad was a great singer!  Love the hair style!  I found out the dog's name is Pepper.  Dad talks pretty fondly about Pepper.

Okay, now I'm getting emotional again.  Here's the layout I made with these pictures.

Here's the left side:
And here's the right side:

I used Bo Bunny's Timepiece Collection for this layout.  I find myself drawn to this collection.  I love the reds, creams, and browns.  You can find all of these papers at The Scrapbooking Studio in Bloomington, IL.  You can also check out this layout on display there.

Thanks for stopping by.
